Temptations and trials in our lives. Two sides of our lives we can not neglect. We probably all know about temptations and trials, therefore we have to learn how to deal with them. We have to know what to do if temptations and trials are present in our life. For that reason James is mentioning temptations and trials in his letter.

We live in a crazy time. A small virus seems to control the world. We thought we had everything so well done: we thought we had everything (or almost everything) under control. And then this virus...

It's been 9 months since the pandemic started. Ever since then, scientists and pseudoscientists have been rolling over each other. They have one thing in common: They still have no idea how this virus works and how it should be combated. One thinks he knows even better than the other, at the same time we have completely lost control.

Psalm 143,8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul.

In a lifetime, a lot happens, sometimes profoundly and importantly, sometimes minor things happen that the day after you will have forgotten. As you get a little older, these big things stay with you, I'm 76 now, and looking back, that's true of me, too.

One thing has become clear over all these years: Nothing is self-evident and I am not entitled to anything.

Col.3:12-17

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

WHERE ARE YOU?

We all probably have to face periods in our lives during which God seems to be far away. Anyway I do sometimes and I am happy that it doesn't happen to often. But always after such a period I realise and have to acknowledge that God never really was far away.

Job 23: 8 "But if I go to the east, He is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find Him. 9 When He is at work in the north, I do not see Him; when He turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of Him.
